Last week we started the first of the quarterly writing prompts. the only difference this year from past years is that we are not having the students print them out, since they do not have print abilities with their Macbooks.

We get to grade them as PDF documents on the Macbook.  Staring at that small screen will most likely damage some eyes before too long. I was thinking and held on to my old monitor and hook it up to the Macbook so that I can see the documents in a larger format.  My eyes are bad enough now, don't need to strain them more.

Labor Day weekend is suppose to be the last big fing of summer.  Ours was not all that great!

My son's golden retriever/Lab went upstairs with Rebecca, my daughter-in-law and his tail hit a storm window that was leaning against the wall. It broke into big pieces and he sliced off about two inches of skin which cause him to start bleeding.

Vet said once their tail or ears get cut they will bleed to death and the muscles in those won't let them blood clot. Naturally being a Sunday the only place open is the emergency vet about an hour away.

They had to put him out and finally take off about 4 inches of his tail, then sew it up. However, he is still bleeding from the incision. He goes back to their vet tomorrow for dressing change and check-up of wound.

The whole time they were gone our Lab would sit looking out the back window for his buddy. They had spent Saturday afternoon digging a hole under the gate and then running all around town until they finally were too tired to run anymore and stopped at Subway, Where the manager had them laying down by a gas pump feeding them water.

Needless to say, it has been an exciting and expensive weekend. But at least they survived.

So, how was your weekend? Do anything exciting?   Tell us all about it. Leave a comment.

Me, I am going to try to find time to edit a novel.

Until next time,

John

Tomorrow starts another year of working for the government for more days now than we used to have to work before the money stayed with us.

This school year will be different by all means.  With the new MacBook computers, there will be a lot of explaining and teaching (by both teachers and students) on how to do something with these new computers.

Last night on Facebook, one of my students told me how to get to a special effect for changing a picture. I had used that effect last week when we had our two days of training, but could not remember yesterday when my grandson wanted to use it.

On the writing front, I placed All in the Family Cruise up on Smashwords.com as a free download.  So far 90 copies have been downloaded. Do you have yours? http://tinyurl.com/3qtcmhw

Dreamer's Paradise cover is finished, but I asked for a change in the color scheme. Hopefully, that will be completed today and I can get it uploaded to Amazon and Smashwords.

They are still working on She Rises at Dawn to get the perfect picture to depict the story, which is set in Chicago. This is the longest and last short story that I will be posting as an eBook.

Writing time will be more limited now with going back to work, but I must find the time somewhere to get back on the revisions of the two novels.

Hope you have a great week and enjoy the weather while you can, as we all know that cold stuff will be here before we know it and everyone will want the summer back.

Feel free to leave a comment. It seems that either no one wants to comment or the comment section is not working.  Surely, someone has something to say?

Until next time...

John

Hello how was your week?  Leave a comment below telling us what great things happened to you this past week.

My eBook Hollywood Dream is doing great.  So far, 3 Five-Star Reviews. Here are a couple of them:

"After I was done, I was left wanting more. To me thats the sign of a great short story."

"This Kindle book is truly entertaining! It has to be difficult to pack so much action into a short story, but John Poindexter does it beautifully. He keeps the reader riveted and interested from page one. The ending is the kind I enjoy as well; uplifting and satisfying."

I hope they find my new ones coming soon to be just as entertaining.

Speaking of new ones. Here is a link to another one of my stories, All in the Family Cruise. It is in a PDF for your viewing pleasure. Feel free to download it and enjoy.

I am off to complete the last reviews of Dreamer's Paradise and She Rises at Dawn before the covers come in. Which I have been told will be coming "soon".

One more week of vacation and then it is back to school for a long year.

Everyone have great one and please leave a review in the comment section after reading the free selection. Thanks!

Ebook sales hit Vending Machine as reported by The Digital Reader.

At the Tokyo Ebook Fair, Glory, a Japanese company, had their prototype machine there to show how it would work. You pay and get a receipt that has a code to download the Ebook to your smartphone.

Read more about it at http://tinyurl.com/6ct7mdg

What will they invent next?

There is no word if that machine will leave Japan, so we need to keep submitting our stories to the regular places that  we submit to.

This has been a busy week for me.  No writing time at all.

So, now it is your time to tell us all what you have been up to. The Comment section below is active.

How is your summer going?

What are you writing?

Any good news on the submissions of your work?

Please post and let us know how it is going.

Until next week,

John

This has been a productive week.  Guess the wife being gone has something to do with it.  E-Books one and two are done.

Dreamer's Paradise is out to the Beta Readers and awaiting their responses before I decide to upload them to Amazon and B&N.

Second one, She Rises at Dawn was re-written yesterday because I didn’t like the first and next to last chapters. I feel it much better now with that accomplished.

It is really hot out!  What are you doing to keep cool?  Or are you one of those that like to get out there and sweat?

Please leave us a message down below and tell us what you are doing.  Swimming?  Writing?

Or are you just lying around on the couch being a television veggie?

All that is really left on the first two e-Books is for my son (who is my partner at Leeworlds - which is actually his company, but my money, ha ha) to get the covers done. We have not really decided on these two covers yet.

What is funny though, I have completed the mock up of the cover for Hollywood Dream, which he is touching up.

Maybe by the time we hear back from the Beta Readers, we will have the cover finished.

Okay, it is getting close to 90 degrees outside and it is only 10:20 on Wednesday the 8th.

What are your plans?  Let us all know as some may want to copy what you are doing to relax as well.

See you next week. And please don’t be afraid to leave a message. The message board is awful lonely.
