It seems that spring might get here some day. But, we all are very tired of winter.

Of course, I go all winter and never get sick, and now that the temps are rising, I get sick.

It is almost one of those times when you think if you died you would feel better, and of course the doctor's office is all booked and you can't get an appointment. Nyquil is becoming my best friend.

One good sign of spring coming is the Red-Wing Black Bird being back in the area. People used to say when Robins come back, but most Robins don't migrate anymore. The Red-Wing Black Bird does and usually shows up about two weeks before the really warm weather.

Needless to say, with this last snow I have been working on my radio instead of a novel.  I like talking to people whether it is with voice or Morse code all over the world. I have conversed with over 100 individuals in the last month. It is really fun to do. And in an emergency, Amateur Radio can get through without commercial power.

You must have a Federal license to operate on Amateur Radio, but the tests are not that hard if you put some time in to study.  Young kids are even hams.

Okay, it is now time for me to ask what is going on in your world. Some comments would be nice for all us to read. Please leave your comments below.

Until next time,

John

In reading many Blogs and Writer's websites, they all have one thing in common and that is they like to share what they know or have learned.

What I shared this week on Facebook that I found to be quite hilarious, was a cartoon picture of what was supposed to be Stephen King reading his first work while in school and the students were running out of the classroom for their lives.

It was very funny and possibly quite true, as I was told that he did share his work at school. Whether this is true or not, I really do not know.

Weatherman says two or three more weeks of winter. I am really tired of all the cold and snow. We have had nearly, or more than, 90 inches this year. We normally get around 66 inches.
Enough of this winter, bring on spring.

The real true way of knowing that spring is almost here is when the Red-Winged Black birds come back from the south. The warm temperatures come and stay about a week or two after they show up. Of course last year, they arrived and then we had another harsh week. Poor birds were probably quite confused about the cold weather still being here.

It used to be that people would say when the Robins come back, but in the last 10 to 20 years not all the Robins have been migrating south, which brings us back to the true indicator the Red-Winged Black bird.

Look for them along the highways, sitting on anything that will hold them.

The title of this Blog is an old saying that comes from:

"Daniel Defoe, appears to be the first to have used the 'share and share alike' version. That was is Robinson Crusoe, or as he called it The life and strange adventures of Robinson Crusoe, 1719:

'He declar'd he had reserv'd nothing from the Men, and went Share and Share alike with them in every Bit they eat.'"

I try to share something every time I update this Blog.  It would be real nice if some of you shared what was going on in your life.  We all would be interested in reading about what is going on in your world.

Please leave a comment and share!

Until next time,
John

I am sure you are like me and are ready to say that we don't want to see any more snow for a long time.

Problem is that it is not over for us.  We are supposed to get more this weekend on the 8th.

Besides the snow, this has to be one of the coldest winters we have had in a very long time.  I hate winter with a passion.

What have you been doing to stay warm and when you are snowed in?

Leave a message below and let us all know.

Myself, I have been on my Amateur Radio working a lot of stations around the world. Just a week ago, I worked the 5th most wanted country in the world, Amsterdam Island.

That was really great, since it is as far away from us you can go before you are heading back.

Now it is your turn, last month we had one comment from a reader in Terre Haute.

How about some of you write us and let us know what is going on in your world.

We would love to hear from you.

Stay warm and safe.

Fill the page with comments.

Until,

John

Hello again,

Thanks for stopping by to read my ramblings.

Do you have an e-Reader? If so, there are a lot of free books floating around for you to pick up.

Most are romance, mystery, paranormal, and even adult themes.  Whatever you like to read can be found just by looking a little at different sites.

For example, Pixel of Ink offers four a day. You can sign up for their e-mail here: http://www.pixelofink.com

FreeBooksy offers various categories of books for free: http://freebooksy.com/

If you are on Facebook, search for your favorite author, a book club, a publisher, or the style of reading you like, example: fiction, mystery, crime, romance, dark fiction, paranormal or sci-fi.  You will find many authors listed, go to their page and see if they list give-a-ways. if so, you may want to friend them and join in on their contests.

There are some authors or idie publishers that give-a-way books all the time. You just have to look for them.

I try to share on Facebook any that come into my page. I feel that it is an author's place to help other authors promote their works. I would hope that they would promote mine as well.

With it being winter and not very many warm days, there is nothing better to do than read a book.  You might as well grab all the free ones you can, besides the ones you buy for yourself.  Like that old saying for almost anything: There are never too many books.

Now it is your turn. Tell us where do you get your books from?   Please leave a message below letting us all know how you do it.

Remember that you can read an eBook even if you don't have a special reader like Kindle or Nook. They have an app that you can download for free at their respective websites.

So go buy a book or get one free lol!   And read!

Until next time,

John

Hello again from the frozen northwest part of Indiana.

Storm came through and dumped almost 7 inches of snow. Roads are not being as cleared as they used to be. Seems nothing is as good as it once was.

We lost another gazebo in this storm. I looked at 7 am and it was fine. But, when I go out there to clear it off as 8:30, it had collapsed and was destroyed.

We will not do that kind again.  If I do anything at all to replace it, it will be built out of wood and stone.

Writing world has been put on hold here. It is that time of year where all the major assignments come in and need to be graded.

It takes roughly a half-hour to grade each one and having 74 major projects to grade plus the other assignments eats of most of my time.

Once this week is over (16-20th) we will be on break and I may be able to find the time to work on the rewrite of the novels.

Now how are you?

I really wish that some of you that read this blog would leave comments on how your world is going. It would be nice to read about you and what your interests are and how well you are doing.

The comment section below is not hard to do, so please consider leaving a message and letting us all know how you are doing.

Over a thousand readers check this blog, so there has to be someone with something to say.

If you would like to author a guest post, please leave me a message with your email I will contact you to set up the guest post.

I hope each and every one of  you have a Merry Christmas/Happy Holiday season, no matter which holiday you observe.  And a joyous New Year!

Until next time,

John
