February, the coldest month of them all is here. We have temperatures in the teens and next week single digits. Too damn cold for me. But can’t afford to have a second place in Florida. Guess I will stay inside and be a hermit for the next month and a half.

I have held off writing as this old house has acted up again. Now the kitchen drain will not work. After two and half bottles of drain cleaner and several plunger attacks, it still holds out and won’t drain freely. We have most of the material to fix it, but it is just too cold to be running to a store for parts every half hour or so when something else decides it needs to be replaced. Plumbing problems in this 115-year-old house is a real pain. Hopefully, in a couple of weeks the weather will break and temps will get above freezing so we can make trips for the parts needed. These old bones of mine dislike the cold at all.

I finally caught up with my wife in age on January 15th. We are both the same age for six months and then she will lead again. We have been doing this age game for 50 years and 9 months.

We wanted to go on a trip for our 50th anniversary last May, but of the course this damn virus destroyed these plans. Maybe, this year will be better.

Besides May being our 51st wedding anniversary, it will be my 2nd after open heart surgery. I am glad that we are both in good enough health that we could go somewhere, if it was safe to do so.

When I get back to writing, I will go over the review of the manuscript to rewrite the areas that were suggested to be added or corrected. Some I don’t agree with, so will have to make sure I study those suggestions carefully before blindly adding them into the story. It will be a stronger story when these suggestions are done.

What are you doing in this bitter cold weather?

Are you well and staying safe?

Please leave a message down below and let us all know what is going on in your life.

Until next time, be safe, wear the mask and stay warm.

I look forward to reading your comments.

Winter is upon us, and I haven’t seen the sun in two days. Very discouraging weather.  And it is cold out.

I have to do the last edit on Book two of the Steve Hawks series. Once I am done with that, I will post the synopsis of that novel here.  Book three is still sitting and waiting for me to get back to it. The working title for that one is Dirty Bomb.

As you can see, I have plenty of work, just need to find the motivation to get it all done.

Christmas is 19 days away, and I have finished no shopping. Don’t expect to get it done, since she said we can wait for what she wants to come available. Have the kids and grandkids Christmas all finished that what’s counts.

How is your Christmas shopping? All finished?  House all decorated?   We decorate no more since it is just the two of us.

I will be glad to see the end of this year. But I suspect it will not improve the world. The virus to eliminate a great number of people in order to shrink the world population is still going strong and doesn’t seem to have an end.

The election for president was a grand farce and is still being fought. Wonder when that will end?

In 40 days, I will have gone around the universe another year. Never thought I would live this long with all the dangerous things I have done in my life. However, I am still here.

Anyone know a real strong person who climbs towers and can pull a heavy pipe out of the tower at 55 feet high?  I need one to fix an antenna.  Or maybe a big bucket truck and a strong person who can get the pipe out without dropping it through my roof. If so, please let me know.

Now it is your turn to tell us all what is going on in your world. Just leave a message down below and rests assure when it asks for an email address that is to just make sure you are not a robot. They don’t record it anywhere for later use.

Until next time, be safe, wear the mask and have a Happy Holiday Season.

I look forward to reading your comments.

Synopsis

of

STEVE HAWKS

THE DILEMMA

STEVE HAWKS - THE DILEMMA is the first in a series of novels that highlights the lives of Federal Agents who work only for the President of the United States.

It opens with Hawks and his agents rescuing a girl from a group of terrorists. She tells him there are more of them on their way to Washington D.C.

Six armed Asian men have stormed the Senate Visitor Center. Hawks and his team kill the terrorists and find the senator they were after, who denies any dealing with the terrorists.

Hawks and his team now travel to Thailand to capture an Air Force member who is selling secrets to a Russian spy. Later, they go to Germany to bring the spy to the U.S.

The president appoints Steve Hawks as the Director of the Espionage, Terrorist Bureau (ETB). Only thirty minutes into being the boss, the president calls and wants him to handle an FBI case concerning weapons dealing to a foreign country from a military base.

Hawks and his two best agents, Jim Horton and Mike Phillips, go to New Mexico to investigate the gun smuggling after discovering shipments of weapons from the Air Base there to another one in California.

This brings in Hawks’ love, Sadie MacKenzie. Steve sends Sadie in undercover against the smugglers.  She arranges a gun deal and must meet the leaders of the smuggling operation.

All Hawks is thinking about is Sadie and her safety. He steps out from behind cover to shoot a smuggler and ends up shot himself.

When he awakes in the hospital, Sadie is there beside him and he tells her to call the President to inform him of how it went. He says tell him that the future Mrs. Hawks is calling. She accepts this odd proposal.

They go to France on their honeymoon, but tragedy strikes. Someone kidnaps Sadie and tells Steve Hawks to go back to D.C. Upon returning, the President wants him to work another FBI case, but Hawks refuses, stating that his wife comes first.

Hawks releases Taylor, the spy. However, the kidnappers decide that they will not release Sadie until the next day. He attempts to convince her to quit her job, but this develops a sub-plot about the tension between the two over her working as an agent that will continue throughout the series.

The president orders Hawks to work on the FBI investigation concerning the senator’s, from the capital shooting, son missing. Hawks brings in the senator’s son and they discover he is not the killer, but another Asian man is the murderer.

Mike calls Hawks and tells him they found the kidnappers. Hawks takes a team to Atlantic City and meets up with Sadie and Mike. Hawks tries to convince Sadie not to get involved any further, but she refuses and insists on being in on the takedown. At dinner that evening, Sadie tells Hawks he will be a daddy, and that she is not quitting her job.

The terrorists captured the senator. They shoot Mike Phillips when he goes after them.

The story ends with Sadie and Hawks visiting Mike in the hospital, where Hawks tells Mike the truth about the senator will come out one day.

My favorite season is coming to a close. I really dislike cold weather anymore. You can't go outside and do anything constructive when it is cold. Guess I will start the next book in the series.

I am getting ready to start the process to publish my first novel in the series on Steve Hawks and the Espionage Terrorist Bureau. You can read about it down below.

When I last wrote we were still waiting for the construction project to begin. I can now say that project is complete and my son and I redid the kitchen ceiling. Not sure what next home project will be, because there is painting to do and I hate to paint. I need to put the flooring down in the bathroom. But that has been waiting for two years. Had it down once, but then we had a leak and had to rip it all up.

Big question now seems to be will there be a Halloween trick or treat night?  One city south of here has canceled it for this year. Wonder if more will follow. I have never been a big lover of Halloween as it is not a proper holiday. But others like it.

Have a great fall and leave any thoughts you would like to share down below where it says comments.

of

Steve Hawks

The Dilemma

Steve Hawks - The Dilemma is the first in a series of novels that highlights the lives of Federal Agents who work only for the President of the United States.

It opens with Hawks and his agents rescuing a girl from a group of terrorists. They are after a senator and kidnapped the wrong girl. She tells him there are more of them on their way to Washington D.C.

After returning to D.C., Hawks receives a call telling him that six armed Asian men have stormed the Senate Visitor Center. Hawks and his team kill the terrorists and find the senator they were after, who denies any dealing with the terrorists.

Hawks and his team now travel to Thailand to capture an Air Force member who is selling secrets to a Russian spy. Later, they go to Germany to bring the spy to the U.S., as he wants to defect. The spy must testify before a Senate Hearing to allow him to remain here.

After it satisfies them that everyone is there, Hawks and his men break into the warehouse and a gun battle ensues.

If he wants to see his wife again, he must arrange for the release of a convicted military spy he arrested.

Upon returning, the President wants him to work another FBI case, but Hawks refuses, stating that his wife comes first.

Walking down the street, Hawks see a car driving by. He then hears Sadie calling out to him and charges the car. The kidnapper shoots him in the shoulder.

Hawks releases Taylor, the spy. However, the kidnappers decide that they will not release Sadie until the next day. This upsets Hawks. They release Sadie the next morning, and he swears she will not leave his sight again. He attempts to convince her to quit her job, but this develops a sub-plot about the tension between the two over her working as an agent that will continue throughout the series.

The president orders Hawks to work on the FBI investigation concerning the senator’s, from the capital shooting, son missing. Sadie insists on working on her kidnappers’ case, going against Hawks advice.

With both investigations running, Hawks can’t control Sadie’s involvement and lets her go after them. Sadie’s case leads them to Atlantic City, and Hawks’ case turns into a murder investigation.

A gun battle ends Taylor’s life and his friends captured. At dinner that evening, Sadie tells Hawks he will be a daddy, and that she is not quitting her job.

Vacation didn’t last long for Sadie and Steve. Another group of Asian men takes Chang, the murderer, from the courthouse. The police find Chang dead and then another shooting takes place at the Capital.  The terrorists shoot Senator Patrick’s son. At the hospital, Hawks confronts the senator regarding his involvement with the terrorists. The senator confesses that they are blackmailing him.

When Hawks leaves, they radio him that the terrorists have attacked the hospital and captured the senator. Mike Phillips is in pursuit.  They find Phillips shot later that afternoon. The next day the police spot the terrorists vehicle and a chase takes place.  At a roadblock, the terrorists’ vehicle overturns.

As Hawks approaches the vehicle, he hears a shot and then the senator is yelling to get him out. The senator explains that he killed one in self-defense.

The story ends with Sadie and Hawks visiting Mike in the hospital, where Hawks tells Mike the truth about the senator will come out one day.

I can't believe June is almost over.  It has been an interesting two months since I last wrote on here to you.  In May, we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. Along came June and my wife's birthday on the 10th. Now we await a construction project to start sometime in the next month, I hope.  The virus destroyed our vacation plans, so maybe later in the year or next year we can go somewhere and do something exciting.

I thought for this month, I would share a scene from the latest book I am working on.

Deadly Revenge

"Steve, you need to come to the Ops Room," Mike said excitedly over the intercom.

"I'll be there in a minute."

As Hawks walked into the room, "This is going to be a bad one," Mike said and shook his head, pointing toward the television.

"Again, we have just received word that Senator Alec Dunn has been shot to death outside his Arlington residence just moments ago. We will have a live report coming in soon," the television announcer said.

"What did they say before this?" Hawks asked as he pulled out a chair up to sit down.

"Nothing really," Jim said. "It seems that he was on his way to work and was hit as he walked out."

"I wonder if we'll get involved?" Mike asked while pouring himself a cup of coffee.

"Probably not. The FBI can handle it," Hawks said.

"This just arrived," the announcer began. "It is a message from the group responsible for the senator's death.

`We are declaring war upon your leaders that authorized the raid on our country by the Espionage, Terrorist Bureau that killed over a hundred of our people. We will not stop until they have all paid for what they did.

Those specifically targeted are Steve Hawks, Director of this killing organization. Also, his wife Sadie Hawks, Agents Jim Horton, and Mike Phillips. Your President is the one directly responsible for sending these individuals to our country to slaughter innocent individuals trying to make a living the only way they knew how. This group of individuals, along with the Senate Committee on Drugs Enforcement will pay for this senseless destruction of human life with their lives.'

This was from a letter that we received just moments ago by a delivery service. We will try to obtain a statement from the Government officials for the six o'clock news. If any developments occur, we will interrupt normal broadcasting to keep you informed. Now back to our normal programming."

"Steve," Diana stuck her head in the door. "President Evans is on the secure voice line."

"Thanks. Well there goes our hidden agency status," Hawks said as he reached for the phone. "Hello Mr. President."

"Steve, did you hear about Senator Dunn?"

"Yes sir. We saw the report on television."

"I want you over here for a meeting in twenty minutes."

"I'll be there."

"Oh! Wear a vest. I don't want to lose you." He hung up abruptly.

"Jim, you and Mike get out the vests and be ready to go in five minutes. We have a meeting at the White House. Diana," Hawks said as he walked out of the Ops Room.

"Yes sir," she looked up from the file she was reading.

"Get a hold of Sadie and brief her on what's going on. Also, send two agents over to my house to guard her and Patricia."

"Where will you be?"

"We have a meeting at the White House."

"What if Sadie wants to come in? What do I tell her?" She got up and walked to the file cabinet.

"Tell her no," Hawks said, pulling off his shirt to put on the vest Mike handed him. "I want her to stay there until I arrive."

"Very well, but you know she won't like that," Diana said as she went back to her desk.

Fifteen minutes later, they entered the White House. The aide looked up and said, "The President is waiting for you in the Oval Office."

"Thank you," Hawks said, opening the door leading to the Oval Office. "Mike, you and Jim wait here."

"Steve, glad to see you," Terry Chambers, Director of the FBI, said as Hawks walked into the Oval Office.

"Steve over here," the President said, standing with Vice President Monroe and Chief of Staff Williams. "We have to get started on this and put a stop to it fast before any more die. As you know, we're the main targets for this group of maniacs. Do you have any idea who they are?"

"No sir. I have no idea what he's talking about. The only raid we made was on that drug factory last year and we certainly didn't kill a hundred people."

"Terry, what does your group have?" the President asked as he turned to look at Terry.

"Senator Dunn was shot with a submachine assault pistol at close range. There was not much left of his torso. The shells have been processed and we do have fingerprints, but nothing that matches them is in our files." Terry pulled out the fingerprint card.

"Were there any witnesses?" the vice-president asked.

"No sir. Not even his wife saw who it was," Terry said.

"Then we have no idea how many, or who they are?" the Chief of Staff asked.

"That's right sir," Terry said. "We can only hope that someone will come forward with information soon."

"Steve, I want both your group and Terry's working on this. Compare notes and keep each other informed as well as me," the President said as he sat down behind his desk.

"Very well," Hawks said.

"Terry, I want you to handle the protection for the Senators involved with that committee. Steve, do you need any support for protection?" the President asked as he wrote something down on a pad.

"No sir. I'll call in enough agents from other areas to handle our own protection," Hawks said, turning to look at him. "I already have two agents sitting on my family at this time."

"Then gentlemen, I think we need to adjourn and find these bastards before someone else dies." The President laid his pen down hard on the table.

"Steve, hang on a minute," the President said as the others exited the room.

"Listen, I don't want to lose you. I need you heading up that organization. So whatever you do, make sure that you're well protected."

"I don't plan on getting myself killed," Hawks said as he reached for the door knob. "I'll make sure that we all have enough protection to survive this."

"Just make sure you do," the President said as Hawks stepped out into the hallway and motioned to Mike and Jim that it was time to go.

As soon as Hawks walked through the door of his agency, he said, "Diana, print out a list of our cases for the past two years and bring them into the meeting in about five minutes."

"Mike, call everybody together. We need to figure out who the hell is trying to kill us," Hawks said, pulling off his jacket.

"Do you want the support staff, too?"

"Yes, everybody. I'm calling home and will be there in about five minutes." He picked up the phone.

"Hello, is everything okay there?" Hawks asked as Sadie answered the phone.

"Hi sweetheart. Everything is okay here. How about you?" He could hear the nervousness in her voice.

"We're fine. I'll be there as soon as I can. I would like for you to think about going to your mother's place for a visit."

"No," she said curtly. "We can send Patricia and Ms. Jensen to my mother's, but I'm not leaving. I'm targeted, too."

"Okay. We're going over the case files to find out who these maniacs might be. I'll call before I head home. I love you."

"I love you, too and please be careful coming home," Sadie said nervously as she hung up the phone.

I look forward to reading your comments.
