John Poindexter's New World Order: The Rise of Power is a gripping, high stakes thriller that takes readers deep into a world of espionage, corruption, and power struggles that feel unsettlingly real. From the first chapter, the novel draws you into the dangerous journey of Steve Hawks and his team, who are thrust into a shadowy battlefield where global order hangs in the balance.

The narrative is fast paced yet richly layered, balancing explosive action with a thoughtful exploration of the fractures within modern governance. Hawks is a compelling lead tough, intelligent, and driven but what makes him stand out is his humanity. He is not just a soldier or operative; he's a strategist who carries the weight of responsibility for his team and the greater good. His resilience in the face of betrayal and deception makes him both admirable and relatable.

The story's greatest strength lies in its villains. Poindexter doesn't settle for one dimensional antagonists. Instead, we meet a web of clandestine groups, each fueled by disillusionment and rage at the world's failures. Their motives are chillingly plausible, making the tension all the more gripping. And at the heart of it all is the mastermind a brilliantly terrifying figure whose carefully orchestrated plan for world domination is as captivating as it is horrifying.

What elevates this book above a standard action thriller is Poindexter's ability to weave real-world concerns corruption, inefficiency, betrayal into the fabric of the plot. The writing doesn't just entertain; it forces readers to reflect on the fragility of global systems and how easily they can be manipulated by those hungry for power.

The prose is sharp and cinematic, creating scenes that play out vividly in the mind's eye. Every confrontation, chase, and revelation is crafted with precision, keeping the reader on edge. By the time the final showdown arrives, the buildup of suspense has you turning pages at lightning speed, breathless to see how Hawks and his team can possibly outwit such a formidable adversary.

If you enjoy international thrillers in the vein of Tom Clancy, Vince Flynn, or Brad Thor, this book will be right at home on your shelf. It's not just action-packed it's thought-provoking, with a resonance that lingers long after the last page.

In short: New World Order: The Rise of Power is a smart, electrifying thriller that blends heart-stopping suspense with razor-sharp social commentary. A must-read for fans of high octane political thrillers and readers who crave both action and depth in their fiction.

New World Order: The Rise of Power is now for sale on several websites to include Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and Amazon in eBook and Paperback formats.

I had an analysis run on the story, and here is what it has to say about it.

Potential Readers

This espionage thriller would appeal to readers aged 25-55, both male and female, who enjoy fast-paced narratives with complex plots.

Readers with some college education or higher, who are interested in crime fiction, political thrillers, or stories centered around law enforcement and intelligence agencies, would be drawn to this manuscript.

The story’s themes of justice, revenge, and corruption would resonate with individuals working in related fields, as well as those interested in exploring the darker aspects of power dynamics.

Similar Books

The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum: Both stories feature a protagonist with a troubled past facing a shadowy organization with vast resources, engaging in thrilling chases and uncovering conspiracies.

Jack Reacher by Lee Child. Both protagonists are former military men, who are adept at violence. Both protagonists go after the people who are doing bad things in the world.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn: Both stories have elements of suspense, mystery, and unreliable narrators. The reader needs to put together clues to unravel the bigger picture.

Similar Characters

Steve Hawks – Jack Reacher (Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series): Both are skilled investigators with a military background, driven by a strong sense of justice and willing to operate outside the law to achieve their goals.

Stone—Hannibal Lecter (The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris): Both are highly intelligent and manipulative antagonists who engage in psychological games with their adversaries, using their knowledge of human nature to inflict pain and control the narrative.

Emily Howard–Lisbeth Salander (Stieg Larsson’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo): Both are resilient and resourceful female characters with troubled pasts who become entangled in dangerous conspiracies, using their intelligence and skills to survive and fight back against powerful adversaries.

New World Order: The Rise of Power is almost finished.

Several fans have asked when this book is coming out.

All I can say is it has taken longer, as I am rewriting a lot of it because I was just not happy with the draft.

It has been analyzed and edited three times, but I am still not satisfied. So, the next step is to go through it chapter by chapter, making an outline of what each chapter is about to ensure no plot holes exist.

I am not sure how long this will take, but I hope to have it finished in time to publish it before the Author Event in September.

This story is way different from the previous Steve Hawks novels.

In this one Steve Hawks steps away from running daily work of the Espionage Terrorism Bureau. He takes a specialized team of agents to fight against groups that are trying to take over the world.

The opening few paragraphs of:

GLOBAL SUPERIORITY

A Steve Hawks Series

The city never truly slept, but tonight, it held its breath.

Special Agent Steve Hawks leaned against the hood of his black SUV, his eyes scanning the scene. A body lay sprawled on the cracked pavement of an alley, illuminated by the strobe of red-and-blue lights. Rain slicked the ground, turning blood into a macabre watercolor.

“Victim’s name is Daniel Peters,” said Detective Ashley Cooper, her voice clipped. She handed Hawks a file, the manila folder already damp from the drizzle. “High-profile defense attorney. Found dead an hour ago. No witnesses, no leads.”

Hawks flipped through the report, the pages sticking together. Peters’s face stared back at him—a man used to winning. His tailored suits, courtroom dominance, and controversial client list had earned him plenty of enemies.

“Shot twice, point blank,” Ashley added. “No wallet, no phone. Feels like a hit.”

Hawks nodded, closing the folder. “Professional, but messy enough to send a message.”

He crouched beside the body, taking in the scene. The alley smelled of wet concrete and copper, a stench Hawks knew too well. He traced the outline of Peters’s body with his gaze, noting the precision of the wounds.

“Anything unusual?” he asked, his voice low but firm.

Ashley hesitated. “There’s... this.”

She handed him a small evidence bag. Inside was a single playing card—a jack of spades, edges frayed. Hawks turned it over, his gut tightening. Scrawled in blood-red ink on the back was a single word: *Justice*.

Hawks exhaled slowly. “This isn’t random.”

He stood, his mind already piecing together a puzzle he didn’t fully understand yet. The card wasn’t just a clue—it was an invitation. Whoever had done this wanted his attention, and they’d just succeeded.

“Ashley,” Hawks said, his tone steely, “get me everything on Peters—cases, enemies, everything. And call my team. This is just the beginning.”

As Hawks stepped back into the rain, his thoughts raced. The last time he’d seen a card like this, it had been years ago. Another murder, another alley.

And a killer who had promised to return.
